Authors at OLA Superconference
Authors Lauren & Jeanette Manning (Walking Away from Hate) presented at the 2021 Ontario Library Association Superconference on Thursday February 4. Hosted by virtual booth of the Association of Book Publishers of BC.
Whitby Ontario’s Lauren Manning went from playing the clarinet in the Durham Youth Orchestra to life as a white supremacist on the streets of Toronto. Told from the viewpoint of both mother and daughter, Walking Away from Hate chronicles Lauren’s descent into extremism, her life within the movement and her ultimate reconnection with the family she once denounced and the mother who refused to give up on her. At a time when white supremacy is resurgent in both Canada and the US, Walking Away from Hate provides a candid insider’s view from a uniquely female perspective.
The event was very well attended and a recording is available on YouTube for any OLA Superconference attendees who were unable to join the live event.
